This Father's Day, we honor not just the fathers who are with us, but those whose love continues to shape lives long after they've gone. Today, we share a dedication to James Price—a father whose memory lives vibrantly through his daughter Heather and wife Cindy, both integral members of the Modern Widows Club® family.
James Price's story reminds us that death does not diminish a father's influence. While he passed away during what should have been a joyful vacation in Costa Rica with his beloved wife Cindy on June 22, his legacy continues to unfold through the remarkable women (and men) he left behind.
Beyond Labels: Daughters as Architects of Legacy
At Modern Widows Club®, we've learned something profound from our “Legacy Club” members—the daughters of widows who've chosen to reframe their love and legacy narrative. They've taught us that they are not "fatherless daughters." They are daughters with fathers whose presence transcends physical absence. They are architects of their own legacy of love, building upon the foundation their fathers created.

Heather Price embodies this truth beautifully. When we sat down with her for our Healthy Widow Healthy Woman podcast, you’ll hear how she carries her father's memory forward—not as a burden of loss, but as a blueprint for living.

A Daughter's Journey of Love and Support
Heather's story illuminates the complex landscape of grief that daughters (and sons) navigate. Her reflections on those cherished, remarkable memories with her father reveal how love persists beyond loss. She'll share what she misses most about her dad, James— his laugh, his wisdom, and the way he made ordinary moments feel extraordinary.
Her journey through grief wasn't walked alone. The support she received, her responses to it, and her insights about what worked and what could have been different offer invaluable guidance for other daughters facing similar losses. When Heather attended the 2023 Modern Widows Club Empowerment Event in St. Louis with her mother Cindy, she discovered the power of community—meeting other daughters who understood her unique perspective.
The Evolution of Mother-Daughter Bonds
Loss transforms relationships in unexpected ways. Heather will explore how her bond with her mother Cindy deepened and evolved after James's passing. Together, they've navigated the delicate dance of supporting each other while honoring their individual grief journeys.
This transformation led Heather to make a meaningful decision: becoming a recurring donor to Modern Widows Club® The Movement for Widow Care (MWC). Her financial support isn't just about giving back—it's about ensuring other daughters and mothers have the resources and community they need during their most vulnerable moments.
Creating Legacy Through Action
For Heather, creating a legacy in honor of her father's memory isn't about living in the past—it's about building a future that would make James proud - one built on the Christian values she holds sacred and that she was raised on. Her commitment to Modern Widows Club® represents a beautiful circle of support, where her own healing journey becomes a source of strength for others.
A Community Commitment
We are deeply moved by Heather's willingness to share her story with such vulnerability. Her openness creates space for other daughters (and young adults like her) to see their own experiences reflected and validated.
At Modern Widows Club®, our commitment extends beyond supporting widows—we embrace their daughters, knowing that the next generation of women will be better prepared for life's challenges when they have knowledge, community, and support.
Join Us in Honoring James
On June 21st, as we gather for our upcoming 2025 Widows’ Health & Wellbeing Day at Heathrow Legacy Club, we'll have the privilege of hearing from both Cindy Price as a speaker and meeting Heather Price, our Organizational Administrator. Their mother-daughter story of resilience, love, and legacy-building offers hope to families navigating similar journeys.
This Father's Day, we remember James Price not with sadness, but with celebration. His love continues to ripple outward through the lives he touched, the daughters and son he raised, and the wife he cherished. He lives on in every act of kindness Heather extends, every moment of strength Cindy demonstrates, and every life they touch through their involvement with Modern Widows Club® outreach.
To all the fathers whose love transcends physical presence—like James Price—your daughters (and sons) are not fatherless. They are love-filled architects of the legacy you began, building something beautiful in your honor.
