For decades, I have scoured the earth in search for who really cares for widows and on the other side of the coin, how did we get to this moment in history with widows so forgotten, marginalized, vulnerable, underrepresented and invisible around the world in matters of social support and survivor resources.
Honestly, I thought it was just me seeing this and I almost decided to just accept that there was nothing I could do about it because it was just “how it was” in modern culture.
But then, I started hearing tens of thousands of stories, comments, both in person and on social media, from other widows and widows organizations.
I finally came to the conclusion that the the lack of widow support coincides with willful blindness culturally worldwide.
Willful blindness is when someone could know something, but ceases to explore it because they might find something that would cause them discomfort.
