If you aren’t in the widowhood, grief, bereavement, loss of life, or funeral services world you may not know what a widowhood pop-up is, little alone wonder why it exists.
We have to go back in history about 22 years and realize long before the 9/11 attack on the United States and social media, traditional support was delivered through brick and mortar buildings and front line staff members who were funded by traditional avenues such as self funded private foundations and governmental institutions. There was no crowdfunding or Facebook and IG fundraisers around.
When Modern Widows Club began in 2011, we started with zero funds in my living room with only a few ladies coming together for friendship knowing the experience of widowhood. It was widows helping widows. I had no intention of starting an organization or a nonprofit.
